IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who want to study or work where English is the language of communication. The test was taken by 2.7 million candidates in 2015 in 140 countries. IELTS test scores are trusted and recognised by over 9,000 organisations worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. UNSW Institute of Languages is an approved IELTS testing centre.

Test results will be available 13 calendar days after the completion of your test, between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm.
There is a bag room clearly marked where you should leave all personal items. All mobile phones should be switched off and placed in the bag room, which will be locked throughout the duration of the test. No responsibility will be taken for the loss of personal items on the test day.
You will be given a label with these details when you register on the test day. The details will also be listed on a notice board on the Ground Floor. You should check this notice board carefully.

Yes. You need to go to UNSW Global Student Services located on level 1, 223 Anzac Parade, KENSINGTON. Bring your original, valid passport and original receipt, and complete the IELTS Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form. If you cancel five weeks or more prior to the test, you will receive a refund, less a cancellation fee of AUD$82.50. If you cancel within the five week period, you will not receive any refund.
You should either email us at IELTS.Enquiries@unswglobal.unsw.edu.au or complete the Change of Address form which you will find on your desk on the test day.
No. You will receive only one copy of your results. However, if you complete the appropriate section on your application form, we can send up to five free copies to Government departments, approved professional organizations, employers or languages schools. We cannot send copies to relatives, immigration agents or education agents. AUD$20.00 will be charged for copies requested after the test and you must complete the Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs Form. If you want your results to be sent to any overseas institutions, you must provide addressed, pre-paid envelopes.
Yes, you can. You must complete an IELTS Enquiry on Results (EOR) form within six weeks of the test date. The fee is AUD$176 and you must also attach your original Test Result Form to the EOR form. It will take up to six weeks for the re-mark to be processed.

UNSW Institute of Languages offers both full-time and part-time IELTS preparation courses and as well as an online e-Writing Tutorial. Our e-Writing Tutorial and preparation courses are well recognised and our teachers are highly experienced and dedicated to preparing you for successful test outcomes.
IELTS e-Writing Tutorial is an online one-to-one course designed to prepare students for the IELTS Writing exam. Separate Academic and General Training modules are available.
Full-time intensive programs are available in five week terms throughout the year and cover each of the language areas included in IELTS.
Preparation courses provide regular IELTS test practice and ongoing feedback in order to identify and work on your specific areas of need.
The Official IELTS Practice Materials are available for purchase from UNSW Institute of Languages. They are recommended for anyone who is unable to attend face-to-face classes and wants to improve their IELTS band score or test if their English is at the required level to take IELTS. The Official IELTS Practice Materials are created by experienced IELTS materials writers and use materials approved by the IELTS partners: the British Council, Cambridge ESOL and IDP: IELTS Australia.
