The University English Entry Course (UEEC)
The UEEC has been developed specifically for students who have received conditional offers from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) but do not meet the UNSW English entry requirements. It provides an outstanding preparation experience for academic study at UNSW.
A recent survey of students who completed the UEEC demonstrated a high level of satisfaction with their course:
| 100% agreed |
"This course enabled me to develop the Academic English skills I need for my future study at UNSW." |
| 99% agreed |
"The teachers were helpful, enthusiastic and interested in my learning." |
| 97% agreed |
"I would recommend the UEEC at UNSWIL to other international students." |
| 96% agreed |
"The workload for my course was manageable." |
Key Benefits
 |
Successful students progress directly into their degree study and do not need to retake an IELTS or similar test. |
 |
The course has a pass rate of approximately 90%. |
 |
Course material is based on authentic UNSW resources including lectures, readings and assessment tasks. |
 |
Lessons are based on the way English is actually used at university and familiarises students with the types of tasks and activities that will be part of their studies at UNSW, while being enhanced through the use of online learning and teaching activities. |
 |
The UEEC is more than just an English language course. It is conducted on campus at UNSW providing students with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the campus, facilities and support services and to build a network of fellow students before commencing their degree course. |
Students take either a 15 week course or a 10 week course depending on their individual needs. There is a natural progression to UEEC from the other Academic English courses offered at the Institute of Languages.
Assessment
UEEC final course results are based on:
- Seminar Presentation or speaking tasks
- Essay /Writing tasks
- Tests during and at the end of the course
- Participation in class
At the successful completion of the course students will receive a UNSW Institute of Languages certificate at a graduation ceremony.
